| Kris Okay... So I am a fairly large Yankee fan... and I bring my buddy A.J. to a game. He is not a big sports fan, but sitting out in the bleachers at Camden Yards... we both had to marvel at these blasts coming out of the batting cage. He turns to me, and I tell him this is the richest man at the stadium. He is an amazing hitter... but only in certain circumstances. I explain to him, that A-Rod is the king of the meaningless homerun, his fielding leaves much to be desired, and his cluch hitting performance is non-existent. Without fail, He hits a tremendous shot to center field (solo home run in the 4th inning)... commits 3 errors in the game... and the grand daddy of them all... Top of the 11th inning. Nobody out, and bases loaded... Here trots Number 13 to the plate. As I just place my hands over my face, even I (the biggest A-Rod hater of all time) isn't ready for him to bounce into a 3-2-5 double play. With one swing, Arod was able to go from bases loaded, to 2 outs, runners on 1st and 3rd, and NO RUNS BATTED IN! Could someone please pay me 4.99 a minute to host my own psychic hotline? I feel like I did a great job watching B.P-Rod excel when it doesn't matter, all the while predicting his ability to fail at the slightest inclination of pressure. dean comments = hay a rod is a great player, but he tends to fould up under preasure,if am paying a guy 26mill i expect for him to deliver Just Don't get it Happy New Year Guys! Ah man was it awesome to witness that incredible upset the other day or what? I called it by 3 in favor of the Giants but i never imagined it would come in that fashion. Wow! I went to the parade and yes - doing it against New England gave it that much more meaning given the fact that we are the reason they ended up with the 18-1 record. The Giants, Eli, Strahan, and comp. have made me feel so proud to be a New Yorker. Thank you so much for an experience the Yankees won't be giving me anytime soon. Thank you! scott agree a 100 percent......when arod hit a gazillion homers in april, the yankees were in last place and were swept at fenway (first time since 1990) and lost 2 of 3 to the sox in the bronx.....when arod started his usual midseason swoon, the OTHER yankee players stepped up and got the yankees back in the race.......quite the opposite of say regular season nfl mvp tom brady, who threw td passes in all but one game and covered for his defense and lack of running game at important times John Thank god this site exists! I have been a Yankee fan my whole life and i have seen players come and go. I have never hated anyone more than A-Rod. He is a bush league player and can't deliever when he needs to! I was extremly happy when A-Rod opted out, but ofcourse he rains on my parade by comming back! Megan Ashley HE SUCKS!!!!!!!!! Looks like he's back - Your our only hope.. Lobby congress.. the steinbrenners... the city of NY.. Do whatever you can.. It's official now and we don't want him back.. Offseason nickname Slum - Rod Just Don't get it - I know I said I wasn't going to write here for the rest of the year but given the fact that these a$$holes signed that f#cking prick to a 10 YEAR contract I only have one thing to say: WE ARE SO GOD DAMNED F#CKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nick Oh $hit hes back-rod L.Mojica We need pitching. ARod can't hit in the clutch. Get rid of him and get some good pitchers. San Fran Kev Great site. San Francisco is behind you. We need another cash cow who doesn't produce in the post-season. Just Don't get it This magical season will go down in history as perhaps an express train that never stopped for A-Rod or one that flies off the tracks and kills everyone on board just when it's destination is within reach. For the Yankees, that destination is another title. I have to admit, I am far more concerned about playing the Angels in the 1st round than I am about another possible post season melt down by Sir Alex. As it stands I can't throw him under the bus in either case so all I can is folks: Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride for however long it lasts because there is nothing certain about this team. Wow, I can't believe it's almost been a year since I discovered this site and began to vent online after the disgraceful loss to the Tigers. James Alex Rodriguez - the 1-man Harlem Globetrotter of baseball. Once the regular season ends, so does his production. Strikeouts, pop-ups, and weak double-play grounders are his stock in trade in critical post-season game situations. Go ahead, 8-Rod, opt out. We'll drive you to the airport, sissy boy. You don't deserve to be on the same field as Jeter, Posada, and Rivera. James Flay-Rod, don't expect the Yanks to make the post season this year, but if they do, wait for my AWESOME .067 batting average and multiple error performance. I am Flay-Rod. This is what I do: hang gaudy numbers during the regular season, and then play like s-h-i-t in October. Just Don't Get it Whats going on? Its been such a long time that I can I honestly this is the first time I've been on when the Yankees are actually winning. Now at 12 games over .500, they look poised to keep this thing going and if the Tigers lose again we'll have sole possession of the Wild Card which none of us would've imagined prior to the All-Star Break. The young guys have added a much needed jolt to the team and Abreu, Matsui, Cano and comp. have actually started to resemble people who aren't walking flatliners after all. The next stretch of games will be against superior competition so lets see how it goes. In the spirit of the site, I can't leave without insulting someone so all I can say is that Carl Pavano is worth less than Florida tap water. That piece of $hit probably thinks the Yankees winning will make people forget about him - on the contrary people will always wonder how things would've been had he not been a natural born Cu#t Bag. Hey and in case A-Rod starts to suck balls again, how about AI-95: Because thats the road he take the fuck out of town if he blows in October. James 7/31/2007 Eight Yankee homers tonight but none for me. I'm 0-5, going for #500. Of course! How do you like my AWESOME Playoff Preview, folks? This is exactly what happens whenever there is the slightest pressure. I am a unique guy - I was born without balls. I am Mary-Rod, otherwise known as Mr. Gutless. Where's my new $40M/year contract, Scott? Matt Great Site. What a waste of money.. trade a-fraud NOW. James Here's my take on "Mr. October": I thought the Yankees dress code prohibited the players from having beards. Yet, there was A-Rod on the cover of all the tabloids a few days ago along with his beard. See, the thing is, A-Rod had no problem showing up in those photos because they would act as a diversion and get everyone thinking he is a typical normal pro athlete who has a mistress, or two, on the road. Which was fine with him because if the truth about Alex Rodriguez's private life and his "arrangement" with his wife ever gets out, that will be the real news. But it won't be a big shock to a lot of people who already know what makes the A-Rod tick. You can buy silence only up to a point, and then there's bound to be a leak. Stand by, folks, this is going to get a lot more interesting down the road... Now I do get it* How do you deal with a serious losing streak and a team meltdown? You hook up with a blonde on while you're on the road. Today the front page of the NY Post had a picture of A-Rod and a mystery blonde entering a hotel. Its a perfect Media Storm if you ask me. Stay tuned.......... Yanks4ever Anyone who watches every game knows that this team has one problem-- A-Rod does not get timely hits, period. Munson, Jeter, O'Neill, Matsui, on and on and on. See the difference? I just watched the Friday loss to the Mets-- anyone surprised by Alex here? YankFan Watchers are asking, what happened to A-Rod's production? For those who haven't been paying attention, "Mr. April" Alex Rodriguez shuts down when the hits mean something. He prospers in no-pressure situations. Wait until the Yanks drop out of contention permanently. He'll go on a tear which will make Barry Bonds look anemic. We could be looking at a Triple Crown season with a .365 BA, 60 HRs, & 185 RBIs just in time for his opt-out clause. And some gullible club will pay him $30M/per season to do the same routine for them - clutch situations = pathetic numbers, no-pressure situations = Ruthian numbers. A-Rod, the bridegroom and never the bride. He could literally play for 25 years without a World Series ring. Wherever he goes, it will be the kiss of death for that city. THIS WILL NEVER CHANGE. Chili the JugMonkey May Rod is at it again. He looks great doesn't he?! Yaaaaaaaaahooo!! All you bandwagon dipsh*t Yankee fans love him now don't you!? I love it. He will no doubt have another great season and disappear down the stretch. You know. I know it. May Rod knows it. I heard a Yankee fan just this morning call him the greatest player ever. I almost couldn't stop laughing for 10 minutes. 2004 ALCS , games 4 thru 7. 2 for 17. That's May Rod and there you have it. Dont make much of this yet In the midst of the incredible start, I have to say that I am both happy and shocked. Yesterday I watched as he did it again against the Indians. But naturally, as a Yankee fan, I'm thinking to myself: "I hope he saves something for October because this great start will be all for not. No one will appreciate this if his alter ego Choke-Rod makes his annual appearance in the playoffs of 2007." I am certain every single Yankee fan is thinking something to that effect. Call me mean or stubborn but those early exits in 2005/2006 mixed in with the "Meltdown of 2004," make me skeptical about anything this guy does. So "Get back to me in October-Rod." Alan S I propose ARod to sign a treaty, in which he will be fined for each at bat in which he crumbles under the pressure. He did shut us all up with that awesome grand slam on saturday though. Maggie I'm shocked. Hell has frozen over and ARod has hit a gamewinning grand slam. It's great, but I'm still waiting for him to show me something in October, not April. Adam I f#cking hate him. Victor from www.sportspluscafe.com, click here to read his comment eddie A I wanted to share an enmail I wrote to a the NY Times Sports writer(J.Harper)who wrote the article in todays news 2/21/07, titled "Grow Up Derek". Mr. Harper, I would just like to say that it is a shame that people who have obviously never played sports have jobs writing about sports. If you had played, even high school sports, you would realize that it is not the captains job to coddle team mates who are not producing (especially stars). In fact, it is quite the opposite. If Derek Jeter were a good captain, he would, in the privacy of the clubhouse, get in ABOMB's face. This guy is getting paid allot of money to play baseball and he is constantly making excuses for his lack of production, especially when the team needs him most. Now he has another excuse. According to uneducated sports fans like yourself, ABOMB cannot produce because Derek Jeter doesn't hang out with him at his late night illegal poker games, or fly to Las Vegas with him and the Hawaiian tropic models. It is mind boggling how a professional sports writer can blame Derek Jeter for ABUM's problems. How would you feel if your boss told you to hang around with all ! of your co-workers, especially the ones that you have nothing in common with or dislike, just so the office moral would be better. Derek did exactly what he should have done as a good captain. He is trying to quell the DISEASE that is AROD. However, I will give you the benefit of the doubt. I do not believe you actually believe that Derek Jeter needs to hang around with every player on the team for them to be successful. You were not happy because Derek Jeter did not give you an immature answer like AROD often does. So, like an immature baby (see AROD) you are, (very unprofessionally) using your position as a writer to get even with him by writing something derogatory about Jeter (unfounded). Derek plays hard, and has brought this team, and the city, championships. He is a model captain (someone who represents the organization with integrity). Uneducated sports fans, think that it is a coincidence that AROD failed to win a championship with one of the most talented teams in history (Seattle). Why would Seattle let a self proclaimed all world player leave town. It must have been a coincidence that the Texas Rangers were a good ball club before the arrival of AROD. The year he joined the club, Texas finished in last place (coincidence), check the statistics. What's very telling is that he was the MVP that year. Why did the Texas Rangers let an all world franchise MVP player leave town (actually he was kicked out of town). Why is poor AROD having problems in New York. It always seems to be someone's fault (but not AROD's). It doesn't take Sigmund Freud to see there is a pattern here. Educated sports people say it is because Derek Jeter doesn't hang around with AROD. I say that the guy is a selfish, all about me, player. He is not liked because of his actions. How many dedicated players do you know who try to sell a meaningless baseball for $2000.00 at the start of a season (AROD attempted to sell his three home run, ten RBI ball to fans then had the audacity to deny it, why wasn't their an arrest? because he authorized the sale and denied responsibility, a familiar MO). This guy wanted his own private office in Met's stadium so he could market himself (True dedication to his team winning) Oh, he denied that too. Did did you take your children to get AROD's autograph when he toured the country with Barry Bonds? I belive you could have made your child smile for a mere $5000.00. I am sure he needs the money. Maybe the handicapped kids can get an autograph for mere 100 bucks. But of course, AROD really isn't a greedy selfish player who has proven over his entire career to choke in the clutch. AROD is despised everywhere he goes by players, and fans alike, because he is the only handsome, rich, biracial player to ever play the game. He is unsuccessful at meshing with his teammates wherever he goes for the same reason. He is unsuccessful in New York because Derek Jeter doesn't hang around with him, or set a precedent and ask fans not to boo. I pay allot of money to see a ball game, and no one, not even Derek Jeter will tell me who I can, or cannot Boo. If we can't boo AROD then we should just ban booing for every player. But, people like you have been making excuses for this immature, arrogant, prima donna his whole life. That is why he never takes responsibility for his actions. And now, right on cue, AHOLE has managed to spread his disease, and ruin the start of the season. Instead of talking baseball, creative sports writers like yourself are talking AROD (just the way AROD wants). And, what's worse, is the fact that you have to drag one of the few decent players New York has ever seen into the mud. You should be ashamed of yourself. I hope you will take the time to learn more about the game of baseball, or at least take the time to put some effort and judgement into choosing a future story. Maybe you can get the ACLU to help you in your quest to ban booing AROD. Well, hopfully your Met's will do well this year Have a good day. steve any idiot who says ahole shouldnt be traded can not be a yankee fan. Very simply, they win the pennant every year, with or without his un-clutch, fake regular season stats. He clearly has no mental capacity to play here, and could flourish elsewhere, ala kenny a$$ rogers and jeff FING Weaver. That in itself should give cashman plenty of ammo to trade him. Those fans who wrote you hate mail should never be allowed in the stadium again. That said- A Hole, karstens, and money to the cubs for zambrano straight up. Now theres a pitcher who would be incredible in October- he has no fear.. Patrick WELL I'M NOT A YANKEE FAITHFUL, BUT I AM A RANGER FAN AND WE HAD A-ROD AROUND AND I WANTED THE YANKEES TO LOOK AT IT THIS AWAY.....WHEN HE WAS IN SEATTLE THEY $UCKED WHEN THEY GOT RID OF HIM THEY GOT BETTER FOR A WHILE WHILE HE WAS A RANGER WE $UCKED WORSE THAN WE ALLREADY DID AFTER WE GOT RID OF HIM WE MADE THE PLAYOFFS ONE SEASON.....NOW HE'S IN NEW YORK AND THEY CAN'T MAKE IT BACK TO THE SERIES I GARUNTEE IF YA'LL TRADE HIM YA'LL WILL BE WORLD CHAMPIONS AGIAN NEXT SEASON!!!!!............ Arod $ucks Arod is by far the worst thing that has happened to New York City since 9/11! He will go down in history as the symbol of failure of the Yankees of the mid 2000's. In fairness, the Yankees are a fundamentally flawed team who are too one dimensional but even so, e-rod has literally sunk the Yankees in crucial moments (Ex: 5-4-3 double play versus Angels in Game 5 of ALDS). He would have done a lot better by nailing the bat to his shoulder and waiting for a walk or a strikeout. The Yankees of 2004-2006 are by far the biggest failures in history because since game 4 of the ALCS in 2004, they are a disgraceful 3-10 in playoff games. They have not won a series since defeating the Twins in the 2004 ALDS. E-Rod should go. El Jeffe San Diego doesn't want K-rod either! We are quite capable of losing postseaon games on our own, we don't need too pat extra for it. JT I was not happy about the Soriano-A-ROD trade from the beginning. I too was a "nay-sayer" about the Wells-Clemens trade but only because we lost Graeme Lloyd in the deal. When Clemens and Pettitte left, we were done. Having the some of the game's historically great offensive players, statistically, cannot compare to having CLUTCH pitching and hitting. Alfonso Soriano hit a huge homerun against Seattle in 2001, but A-ROD cannot play in the clutch. Melky Cabrera is a better clutch player than Alex Rodriguez. eddiea said: Graet players elevate the play of their team. Mark Messier, Derek Jeter, Michael Jordan, Lebron James, Mario Lemiuex, etc. etc. It is no accident that the arrival of these players on their respective teams translated to championships and in the case of lebron James a marked improvement. This is my definition of a great player, and one who deserves the accolades and top money. AROD is Stephon Marlbury. He will finish his career with great statistics but he will never lead his team to a championship. In fact, one can argue based on statistics, and past performance, (which is all we can go on) that AROD actually diminishes the play of the teams for which he has played. He was on a virtual allstar team in Seatle and he could not lead the Mariners to a title. He was traded to Texas. The Rangers record was worse and the team dropped to last place with AROD (and his MVP) and dramatically imoroved when he was traded. One can argue that the Yankees with AROD have suffered ! thr worst loss in their history (losing four straight to Boston) If AROD was great he would have had the big homerun, base hit whatever, that would have led to the yankees winning that series. If he had a three home run, ten RBI game against Boston that led to a victory, that would have been worth the $2000.00 souvineer ball he was trying to sell after a meaningless game at the start of the season. That is the another reason we need to get rid of this prima donna. Money is a priority over the game for this guy. All of his motivation (statistics etc. seem to be money driven). If I hit so many home runs, I'll be on a wheaties box, get more endorsements, etc. etc. Worst of all, his arrogance, selfishness, constant inability to accept responsibility for his failures, and immaturity lead to a major distraction in the clubhouse (one might say a cancer). AROD should start wondering why everyone dislikes him because he is handsome, biracial, and rich when most of the league fits th! at description and those other players are not despised (He needs a "maybe it's me moment")Of course he is too arrogant to admit that he is am immature, spoiled brat. Yankee fans want this guy out of town. I think its time ownership respects the wishes of the people who are paying the bills. TRADE AROD for pitching. If AROD stays, I go. I have alot of friends who feel the same way. And, to all the Michael Kay's of the world who love to site AROD's MVP awards, I have a question for you. What did AROD's MVP award accomplish for the yanks? The same thing that his MVP award accomplished for the Rangers. Team failure, team decention, and a decline in team performance. Well, I guess all is not so bad. ARODS did manage to get his rich, handsome, biracial, mug on a box wheeties. Bill M (Yankee fan from Toronto) Every year I make fun of my friends who are Blue Gay fans, and Red Suck fans, because their teams choke, and since 2004, they have gotten to laugh in my face when A-Dud chokes... I tried standing up for him, I bought his jersey, I wore A-Rod shirts... I will no more. I'm trading the jersey in to get a Moose or Jeter one, and until then I will wear hockey or Roger Clemmens jerseys to school instead, other then Tuesday (would do this Monday, but in Canada, that'sthanksgiving) when I will wear my Yankee jersey with "Rodriguez" and "13" crossed out with Duct Tape. A-Rod Sucks! Thankyou for this site. Joe P Next year we need Lou Pinella managing, we need Philip Hughes pitching, we need Andy Philips starting at first, we need a kid at third base. We need A-Rod traded to the Angels for Howie Kendrick, and Ervin Santana, (if we can get Figgins all the better), We need to get rid of Farnsworth and Villone. We need J.B. Cox in the bullpen. MELKY CABRERA NEEDS TO START IN LEFT. GET RID OF SHEFFEILD, I DONT CARE HOW. redsox hater the sox suck.... nuff said. oh ya and i saw something on espn saying that the yankees should trade derek jeter and keep a-rod.... that sports writer is the biggest moron on the face of this planet. he should be flammed all over the internet for spitting out the dumbest thing ive ever heard in my life. Scott A-Rod (and also Giambi, Randy, Wright & Pavano) must Go!!! tradea-rod What the hell, man. I'm done. As a season ticket holder, they need to trade this idiot. I'm going to revamp my tradea-rod.com site, maybe we can make a difference. Dean We now here from ARod's defense team that his problems are stemming from Jeter not "allowing him into the circle", or Jeter "keeps him shut out". This makes me want to rip my hair out. Now its Jeter's fault, because it can't possibly be ARod himself. Last time I checked, these are grown men, making millions of dollars. This is not a group of boys in tree house. It would not surprise me if Jeter is not all that fond of ARod. My guess is ARod keeps himself on the outside. He did not have a sparkling reputation as a teammate in Seattle, and certainly not in Texas. Jeter wants to win, period. It is evident in the way he plays and carries himself. I do think ARod wants to win. However, he wants to win batting 4th, with his tshirts selling the most, receiving the loudest ovation from the crowd, being Torre's favorite player, NY sports writers declaring him the best Yankee ever, and on, and on. Why he can't just go out there and play is beyond me. Guys like ! Posada and Williams (sometimes great, sometimes not) push it as hard as they can and will do whatever it takes to win. They don't always have everyones complete confidence (they receive crticism and doubt) but it has never knocked them off course. ARod's need for acceptance and attention is unbelievably petty and pathetic. I would guess ARod's feelings are not hurt at all by not being in Jeter's circle (as relationships in Texas & Seattle suggest), but in fact due to Jeter(and other Yankees) not shuddering in ARod's presence. He has always been jealous and envious of Jeter (a lot of men are) to some degree. His arrival in New York has done nothing to suppress that in my opinion. Not being perceived as the top dog in New York takes his focus away from winning. He needs to be traded, the longer he stays, the more damage he is going to do. Matt L This guy is the biggest choke artist ever.He doesn't have that ice water in his veins that champions have...He eats up so much money and provides nothing except k's...Get rid of STRIKEOUT RODRIGUEZ Paul NY, NY I agree with you. A disgrace to the Pinstripes. Everyone outside of New York thinks we are all crazy for dismissing all his regular season talent when he does nothing in October. But they do not seem to realize that when you get here, you are expected to run into the playoffs swinging. Alex Rodriguez is to Derek Jeter what Floyd Landis is to Lance Armstrong. K-Rod cannot take the pressure. I say we force him into waiving his no-trade clause, bringing him to the White Sox, who have a spot for him when Crede goes into arbitration. I also believe Steinbrenner has to stop buying aging talent and go for young pitching. All of his pitching moves have been terrible save signing Clemens. Kevin Brown, Carl Pavano--these guys are horrible and a coillective disgrace to the game of baseball right now. Randy and the rest of the guys who played this year are too old and hurt to really be effective. The Unit is finished. A-Rod must leave this city and try elsewhere. ! It will be better for both parties... I will never forget that Double play in Anaheim after Derek Jeter legged out a single in the 2005 ALDS. It was the defining moment of Alex as a Yankee |
